Advice for Gruhapravesh & Vital Considerations

(1) When a family moves into a freshly constructed home, the homeowners should pay closer attention to the lucky muhurta for the Gruhapravesh ritual. Vastu Shastra is more crucial at initial entry into a newly constructed home. The primary purpose of gruhapravesh is to invoke the blessings of the five elements: Earth, Space, Water, Fire, and Wind. These five elements will bring happiness and peace of mind by performing this pooja.

(2) According to Hindu lore, success and happiness will result from the house-warming ritual if it is held at a suitable time on an auspicious date. One of the most significant auspicious days to move into one's home is Navaratri. If the ceremony is performed within these lucky days, it will purge the house of all bad energy and render it lucky.

(3) Many Hindus are unaware of the traditions surrounding Griha Pravesh, so we are providing them with some Gruhapravesh advice to make this ritual auspicious and joyful.

(4) The housewarming ceremony should only be performed when the family is prepared to relocate and the house is finished. The complete house should have its doors, shutters, and roof covering in place before the ceremony day; this promotes family harmony.

(5) The idols of the gods and goddesses should be positioned towards the East direction of the home during the Griha Pravesh ceremony; they should not be kept up against the house walls. It is necessary to perform Ganapathi pooja.

(6) Salt was used to scrub the entire home before the puja in order to purify it. To create a sense of purity, holy water was also liberally sprinkled throughout the dwelling.

(7) Fresh flowers and mango leaves must be arranged in torans on the front door of the residence. Because the main gate is known as Simha dwara and is the face of the Vastu Purusha, it should be embellished with swastika symbols and Lakshmi feet (for good fortune).

(8) Bright rangoli made of rice flour and various colours must be used to decorate the floor. Rangoli is thought to summon the goddess Lakshmi, a representation of prosperity and fortune.

(9) Always step into the home with your right foot first.

(10) A kalasha filled with milk or water should be placed inside the home on the day of Gruhapravesam before being given the next day to a needy person or placed at a temple.

(11) Priests should be served a feast on this auspicious occasion.

(12) The occupants of the residence should spend their final night there on the day of Graha Pravesh.
